To My Friend in Wyoming
April 18, 2008 David's Journal No CommentsI was out taking a walk tonight. I stopped, laid down on the sidewalk (not as uncomfortable as it sounds), and looked up at the stars in the sky.
I had just been talking on the phone with my friend in Wyoming, of all places. You never know where you’re going to make a good friend. She’s going through some really challenging times right now. She mentioned, in passing, some far worse and even more difficult times she’d already survived in the past.
She’s a good person, a beautiful soul.
I wondered, why do good people suffer through so much — through so much bad stuff that they clearly don’t deserve. My poor friend… struggling financially, emotionally, in her intimate relationship… she’s so strong. And she deserves so much better. So much better.
