Good Friends

I was updating my profile on MySpace and thinking about so many friends I have all over the world.  I have a philosophy that *everyone* is automatically my friend, unless they tell me otherwise.  I love connecting with people and sharing and learning with others.

Anyway, some of these friends have become very close to me.  They’ve become very near and dear in my heart.  Valued.  Respected.  Trusted.  Loved.  Much appreciated.

Most of you know who you are, because I try to remember to say it every now and then.  I’m grateful for these friends.  My life really is better because they’re in it.

They lift me up when I’m down.  They give me hope and encouragement.  They share their own hopes and dreams, fears, doubts, insecurities, joys, successes…  We learn from each other.  We’re always growing, partly because of each other.  They add joy and value and meaning in my life.

I’m thankful and grateful for them.

My friends.

My very good, special, well loved friends.

Thank you for being in my life.

I love you.

Namaste, with love,
David

Can’t Argue With the Price

I’ve tried out a few different MLM / network-marketing companies in the past.  I did Pre-Paid Legal, Primerica, and Herbalife.  I looked into Amway/Quixtar and a few others.

Most MLM’s cost around $200 to get started.  That usually includes getting your starter kit, processing paperwork, getting your independent business owner ID number, etc.  Then the goal is to tell others about your new product or service, make sales, and earn commissions.  And then if you recruit and train people, you get a small bonus commission on top of their commissions.

Perfectly legal, perfectly legit.  The trick is, you have to run it like a business.  You can’t just sign up and magically expect everything to come to you.  Most people I meet who join MLMs get excited at first, but then never do anything with it.  And so nothing happens, and they either give up or call it a scam.

MLMs are NOT pyramid schemes.  A pyramid, which is illegal, just has money transferring hands.  Only the people at the top make any real money.  There’s no actual product or service being sold.

Today, with the economy and job insecurity the way it is, people have been looking more and more for alternative and better ways to earn an income.  Some start their own business, invest in the stock market or real estate, play the lottery, work more hours at a second job, or try selling something (like a book!) online. :)

Glow

I had a great day today.  My parents own a boat and today my mom and I went out on the waters into Tampa Bay.  It was a great experience (I had never been on a boat before) and I even got to drive the thing for a little bit.  It was a lot of fun.

Afterwards (and a little sunburn later), my parents and I went to a Life Teen Mass at a Catholic church I used to go to years ago.  “Life Teen” is like a regular Mass, except geared for teens, so the music is more lively and whenever possible, the homily is geared towards something relevant and meaningful to young adults and teens.

At church, I noticed one girl.  She was several aisles over, but she caught my attention.  More specifically, her soul caught my attention.  She glowed.  Really bright.

Just What You Wanted

I was watching an old episode of Mad About You.

It’s a hot New York summer afternoon.  Their air conditioner breaks.  Paul and Jamie go to their usual and familiar local restaurant, and on the spur of the moment, decide to borrow a friend’s car, get out of the city, and go to an old favorite seafood restaurant on the Jersey shore that served their favorite clams.

As is bound to happen in TV sitcoms and real life, they ran into a few problems and misadventures along the way, searching for the restaurant — whose name they can’t quite recall — where they had so many happy memories from their early days as a young couple.

Finally they find it — Clamenza’s — only to discover the restaurant has closed and relocated.

Great Weekend

I had a great weekend at the Achieving Life Health & Wellness Expo.  There wasn’t much foot traffic, but I had a great time meeting and chatting with many of the vendors.  I made some new friends this weekend. :)

I was the last speaker of the event — and in my humble opinion, the best! ;)  hehe.

But seriously, it turned out great.

I started my talk with the 7 Keys to a Fulfilling Life — even helped one lady in the audience get inspired to make a positive change in her own life.  Then we got into something I’m really passionate about: making money in today’s stock market.

Butterfly Story

The Story of the Butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared.
He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours
as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.
Then it stopped, as if it couldn’t go further.
